What Is CBD?

CBD is a cannabis compound that has significant wellness benefits, but does not make people feel “high”. The fact that CBD-rich cannabis is non-psychoactive makes it an appealing option for patients looking for relief from various stresses on the mind and body.

AS of 2014, CBD is Legal nationwide

The gigantic 2014 US Farm Bill contained a small section called “Legitimacy of Industrial Hemp Research.” In this section, Congress legalized “industrial hemp” by carving it out as an exception to the controlled substances act.

In simple terms, the Farm Bill allows the growing or cultivating of industrial hemp as long as it’s grown or cultivated “for purposes of research conducted under an agricultural pilot program or other agricultural or academic research” and if the growing or cultivating of industrial hemp is “allowed under the laws of the State in which such institution of higher education or State department of agriculture is located and such research occurs.”

At least 23 states have dove in and erected laws relating to industrial hemp, most importantly our home state of Kentucky that boasts near perfect growing seasons. This helps us produce CBD oil for general health purposes.

Unfortunately, there were several issues for Medterra in the Farm Bill, but luckily a provision in the later Funding Act put the finishing touch on hemp law, allowing industrial hemp and its component parts, such as CBD, to be processed, transported to and sold in all 50 state, including states that haven’t enacted industrial hemp laws pursuant to the Farm Bill.
